Herbs and Spices - Not just for flavor
2007-01-17 @ 12:42:24
With winter months placing a chill in the air, many people boil water to help trap heat and keep their noses from drying out. When we were children it was common to have a stock pot full of water on the wood stove for these same reasons.

Boiling water can be double helpful for your nose with some select aromatics. Next time you fire up the stove to boil water and add humidity to your house try adding a couple sticks of Cinnamon and Cloves or Star Anise. The smell will permeate your living space like freshly baked bread.

Here are some other aromatic herbs and or spices to try;

Rosemary
Thyme
Citrus peel
Vanilla
Chamomile
Ginger
Lavender

Also try essential oils to enhance the aroma of your home while boiling water.

Enjoy!
